Modeling regional linkage of financial markets
نویسندگان
چکیده
With the development of globalization and regional economic integration, regional markets linked with a common currency emerge, in which investors from domestic market are allowed to trade in foreign markets. Empirical studies have evidenced extensively the existence of co-movement of asset prices or cross-correlation in market returns among these markets, especially in global event. However, there is no theoretical model in literature that can provide economically plausible justifications for these stylized facts. This research intends to fill up such a gap with a simplest possible nonlinear dynamic model. Based on the classical market-maker framework of Day and Huang (1990), a two-market HAM model is developed, which does not only prove in theory the existence of price comovement but also replicate in simulation this typical characteristic, along with other well known stylized facts characterizing individual financial market. Moreover, theoretical analysis suggests meaningful implications for market opening policy. In particular, in terms of financial stability, a relatively small market may not benefit from market linkage and market opening is essentially a double-edged sword. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. Modeling of investment attractiveness of countries using entropy analysis of regional stock markets
The current study focuses on the problem of determining investment attrаctiveness of countries by means of monitoring regional stock markets. The method of using the permutation entropy as a model of investment attractiveness estimation is suggested. We have calculated the permutation entropy for the time series of stock markets of countries for the period from 2005 to 2018. The countries with ...
متن کاملElectricity Market Risk Measurement using Vine-Copula based Monte Carlo Simulation Model
In this paper we propose a vine copula based Monte Carlo simulation model for estimating Portfolio Value at Risk. The vine copula model is introduced to analyze the complex dependence structure of different regional markets in the typical financial markets. Then we construct the vine copula based Portfolio Value at Risk model, taking into account the identified high dimensional dependence struc...

Tam, Pui Sun—A spatial–temporal analysis of East Asian equity market linkages This paper examines East Asian equity market linkages in and out of the Asian and global financial crises using a novel econometric approach. The market dependence structure and shock transmission mechanism are explored spatially in the time domain, thus offering new insights into the dynamic regional market linkage p...
متن کاملA framework for financial autonomy in universities applying Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) technique
The purpose of this study was to provide a framework for financial autonomy of public universities in Tehran with qualitative approach. Due to the limited size of the population, purposive sampling was performed in which 20 experts with experience in the field of university financial management were selected. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect the required data. To achieve the goal...
متن کاملModeling the Dependency Structure between Stocks of Chemical Products Return, Oil Price and Exchange Rate Growth in Iran; an Application of Vine Copula
The main objective of this study is modeling the dependency structure between the returns of oil markets, exchange rate and stocks of chemical products in Iran. For this purpose, the theory of Vine Copula functions is used to investigate the dependency structure. In addition to consider a linear relationship between financial markets in Iran, the nonlinear dependency structure of these markets ...
